Last week, a Los Angeles judge declined to remove Britney Spears’s father, Jamie, as the head of her estate, an arrangement that’s been central to the conservatorship that has managed her financial and personal affairs for more than a decade. Recently, for the first time, Spears has been agitating for changes; future hearings on the conservatorship are expected.
Her unique guardianship circumstances date back to the late 2000s, when Spears, then one of the most famous pop star in the world, suffered a troubling public meltdown. After the conservatorship was put in place, she regained personal and professional stability, which lasted throughout the 2010s.
